Vincent Abadie Hafez (Zepha), signe son retour sur la scène artistique parisienne avec une exposition personnelle intitulée “Back to the wood” qui dévoile un corpus d’œuvres inédit consacré à son travail sur bois. Plus que jamais, l’œuvre de Zepha gagne en intensité. Explorant une procédure plastique d’accumulation de multiples pièces de bois, l’artiste se confronte à la matière, organique et quelconque, pour en agencer des structures complexes, saturées par un flux chromatique aux tonalités stellaires. Ces formes composites amalgamées donne une texture au réel; une lecture du présent incarnée, dont on ne cherche plus tant à se délester qu’à en adopter la fulgurante trajectoire. “Back to the wood” marque un point de résurgence et montre la restitution d’un itinéraire esthétique et initiatique entamé presque trois décennies plus tôt. L’apprentissage ascétique des écritures succèdera à l’insolente liberté du graffiti des early 90’s, pour construire une pratique nourrie et décloisonnée, profondément humaniste. À l’impérieuse nécessité de coexister, il répond sans s’astreindre aux seules techniques calligraphiques, par la représentation d’archétypes universels (le cercle, le signe) et la propagation d’un langage devenu abstrait et instinctif, presque vibratoire.
